Blast from the Past in Pattern Form

Remember this afghan?
I blogged about it back in February.
And... in response to some requests, the pattern is available at my Etsy shop.

The colors remind me of an ice-cream sundae...
Sweet shades of cherry, mint, blueberry...
Vanilla cream and chocolate brown.

PATTERN DESCRIPTION

This PATTERN is for a delightfully soft blanket crocheted with sweet shades of pink, aqua, green, chocolate brown, and vanilla cream. The pattern is a modern take on the classic Granny Square, featuring a pinwheel in the center of each motif for a bit of whimsy. The vanilla cream scalloped edging is the perfect finishing touch to this cozy afghan.

Pattern includes instructions for motifs and includes the exact color combination of all 77 motifs, so you will not have to think about color arrangement at all. It's already been done for you!

A Motif Arrangement Chart is included, so you will know precisely where each motif should be placed. Also included are instructions for a join-as-you-go method of joining motifs, so your afghan will come together quite quickly. (Your own favorite method of joining motifs will also work.)

Finished afghan size is 48" x 32", and is just the right size for a baby, toddler, or even a lap afghan.

Pattern includes lots of photos and a large, easy-to-read font.

Stitches Used:
Chain (ch)
Slip Stitch (slst)
Single Crochet (sc)
Half Double Crochet (hdc)
Double Crochet (dc)
Double Crochet Cluster (dccl)
(Instructions for special stitches included.)

You may sell finished items you've made from this pattern. Please link back to my shop if selling online or if you blog about your finished afghan. Thanks! :)

Blooming Bookmarks

These cute little crochet bookmarks make me want to go grab a book and read something! (Kind of reminds me of that line in "Sweet Home Alabama" where Candace Bergen says, "Why don't you go back to your double-wide and fry something? lol) But... back to the bookmarks... lol

I just finished crocheting 75 of these Blooming Bookmarks for a church in PA. They're going to give each mother one at their Mother's Day service. I think these would be lovely shower/party favors as well.

Here are 2 close-up shots of the flowers:

Cozies, Coasters, and Cups... Oh My!

Today I'm going to share 4 of my newest vintage crochet pattern favorites.

They are all absolutely adorable, and I can't wait to get busy crocheting them!

First off... Tiny Tea Cups and Saucers. These would be perfect to house tiny treasures, earrings... even paper clips! And, of course... they would be the perfect play tea party set for a lucky little girl!

Next up are these lovely Glass Cozy Coasters. They're a cozy and a coaster all-in-one. And they're pretty darn cute, too!

And what's not to love about these pretty crochet Flower Coasters??? Again... simply adorable! And they would definitely be gorgeous appliques!

And last but not least... this beautiful knitted Petunia Teapot Cozy! Seeing this photo really makes me wish that I could knit... and that I was more of a tea-drinker. hehe The body of the Teapot Cozy is knitted... and the petunias are crocheted. I love, love, love this pattern!

PDF patterns for all 4 of these lovely vintage crochet/knitting pretties are available for purchase at my Etsy shop.

Christmas Goodies

I love Christmas tins decorated with frosty snowmen and little birds...

teddy bears, presents, and holly.

Especially when there's something inside!

Hey! What's hiding in there?

Are those cookies?

Yes! These are cookies!

The yummiest, Soft Sugar Cookies I have ever eaten!

Perfect for the holidays!

Soft Sugar Cookies

(These are a drop cookie... no rolling required!)

Cream together the following 3 ingredients until light and fluffy.

2/3 cup shortening
2/3 cup SOFT butter (do not melt)
1 1/2 cups sugar

Add the following ingredients to creamed mixture and mix well.

2 eggs
3 t. vanilla extract
1 t. salt
2 t. baking powder

Gently fold in the following ingredient. Do not over-mix.

3 1/2 cups flour

Use a small melon scoop to measure out the dough, and roll into small balls. Roll cookie dough balls in sugar (colored decorator sugar would be nice). Place sugared cookie dough balls on ungreased cookie sheet, and bake at 350 F for 10 minutes.

Makes 6 dozen cookies.

Yum!

Spring Has Sprung

Take a ride down a country road in SC this time of year, and this is what you're going to see. Wisteria... blooming EVERYWHERE! The vines ramble up the trunks of trees and then wind themselves around the branches. It is absolutely gorgeous!

A field of wild flowers... so pretty!
